On 4th August, at Rendcomb Aerodrome near Cirencester, one of our listeners, Betty Bromage, at the age of 97, broke her own Guinness World Record as the oldest female wing-walker,* raising money for Cheltenham Hospital, which last year treated her for a stroke and a fractured pelvis.
In this outside broadcast, which was recently sent out to our listeners, Margaret describes the scene and the flight, and talks to Betty, some of her friends and the pilot.
You can listen to the recording via the media player below, and see photos from the day further down the page:
*Although Betty is officially only the oldest female wing-walker, the older male wing-walkers did not, as she did, include a loop-the-loop and a barrel-roll in their flight. We understand Guinness Records are looking into this.
