Earlier this year, Margaret and June visited the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust’s centre at Slimbridge on the Severn estuary. They were shown around by the Grounds Manager, Chris Rixton, who over the previous two years had designed and overseen a series of projects which have transformed the site, improving both the habitats for the birds and the experience for visitors. En route, they met some of the swans, geese, ducks and other birds which inhabit the site – and the flamingos which turn out to be surprisingly noisy.
