In February, The Cotswold Listener was invited to record a fascinating talk made to the Alderton Gardening Club to a packed audience in Alderton Village Hall, entitled: “It’s easy to grow the most beautiful roses”.
The talk was by Michael Marriot, who has worked for 35 years at David Austin Roses and is one of the UK’s foremost rosarians. Although Michael has now retired, he travels widely both in the UK and abroad imparting his amazing knowledge, guidance and expertise on growing roses. He has advised his Majesty King Charles III on roses to plant at Highgrove, and he has designed gardens both internationally and in the UK, including at Windsor Castle, Kew Gardens and The Queen Mary’s Garden in Regent’s Park.
